CARSON, Calif. (Thursday, March 20, 2008) – LA Galaxy midfielder David Beckham has been called in to the England squad by manager Fabio Capello ahead of Wednesday’s friendly against France in Paris. The 32-year old midfielder has earned 99 caps during his England career, which began in 1996, and is on the verge of becoming the fifth player in England history to earn 100 caps.
One of 30 players called in by Capello, Beckham will train with the Galaxy through the club’s Fan Fest on Saturday morning at The Home Depot Center before departing for England. Beckham will return to the Galaxy following Wednesday’s game and re-join the club ahead of the season opener against the Colorado Rapids on March 29 in a game that can be seen live from Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colo. exclusively on Fox Soccer Channel at 6:30 p.m. (PT).
