NEW YORK, NY – Simon Fuller, founder of XIX Entertainment and creator of American Idol, will be honoured by St. George’s Society of New York at its annual English Ball to be held on 28 May at 583 Park Avenue.
Simon Fuller is one of the most dynamic and influential forces at work in the entertainment business today. He manages an impressive list of singers and recording artists, such as Annie Lennox, Spice Girls and Carrie Underwood, as well as award-winning footballer David Beckham, Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton and Grand Slam-winning tennis champion Andy Murray. In 2011 he was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for his contribution to the global entertainment industries and he has long standing associations with several charitable initiatives, including Greenpeace, Amnesty International, Save The Children, The Prince’s Trust, Malaria No More, The United Nations Foundation and Comic Relief.
Mr. Fuller will receive the Society’s Anglo-American Cultural Award, which was established in 2010 to recognize British or American individuals who have rendered significant services in the US-UK cultural world.
“I am a great believer in Anglo-American partnerships and it makes me proud to be honoured by St. George’s Society of New York. I’ve been inspired by so much great American culture in my life and it has been wonderful to see my ideas and partnerships greeted with such enthusiasm in the United States over the last 25 years,” said Simon Fuller.
The English Ball is the premier English social event in New York and this year will celebrate the 60th anniversary of The Queen’s coronation. It is the Society’s major annual fundraiser with proceeds going directly to its charitable programs.
This year corporate support is provided by Citi and McGraw-Hill as Gold Sponsors, Jaguar Land Rover, Lloyds Bank and MasterCard as Silver Sponsors and The Dow Chemical Company and Zurich as Bronze Sponsors.
